Acron Developers plans leased home scheme for senior citizens [4th June 2010,The Hindu Business Line]

Mumbai: The Goa-based Acron Developers announced a special leased home scheme for senior citizens, which offers them a fully-furnished apartment at an affordable rent.

The scheme ‘Vivira Residences’, is a chain of residential communities planned exclusively for independent, senior-living with world-class services and facilities at scenic and tranquil locations across the country, Acron Director, Mr Amar Britto, told reporters here.

“Through this scheme, we want to ensure that senior citizens, who are looking out for a change in their lives, can rent an apartment and stay there as long as they wish, for an affordable rent,” Mr Britto said.

The first set of Vivara homes, set up in north Goa, would be rolled-out in the next few months. The unit would have 52 apartments, Mr Britto said. Senior citizens will have to pay a deposit of Rs 20 lakh for hiring the apartment apart from the rent amount which would be around Rs 8,000 a month. The deposit money would be refunded when their lease period terminates.

The company plans to set up similar units in Coorg, Kerala, Puducherry, Shirdi, Rishikesh, Brindavan, Ban- galore and the outskirts of major cities. “We would be making an investment of about Rs 150-200 crore, spread over three years, for setting up these units on eight locations,” he said. Vivara, which is owned and managed by Acron, has tied-up with international retirement associations.

The property is run in technical collaboration with operators of some of the best retirement properties in Australia, he said.
